Dr Rasha Altaie
Rasha is an Iraqi born, Irish trained doctor. She underwent her basic and higher surgical training in Ophthalmology in Ireland, gaining her Fellowship in Ophthalmology from the Royal College of Surgeons in 2002, and her Master’s degree in Cataract surgery from the National University of Ireland, Galway, in 2003.
She then received advanced clinical fellowship and sub-specialty training in cornea and anterior segment reconstruction, and Paediatric Ophthalmology, at Auckland University.
She is currently working as a specialist in the public sector with Counties Manukau District Health Board, as well as privately at the Milford Eye Clinic. In addition to her clinical work, she also has interest in research, with a number of publications. She is a senior lecturer at Auckland University.
Her main area of interest:
- Cataract surgery
- Cornea and anterior segment surgery, including pterygia and keratoconus management
- Paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus surgery
